Commissioner Danny Garcia is a lifelong resident of Precinct 1 in Victoria County, Texas, where he has dedicated his life to public service, community development, and family. Elected as County Commissioner in 2012, Garcia brought over three decades of experience from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), where he led major infrastructure projects across the state. His extensive career at TxDOT provided him with deep insights into transportation planning, project management, and intergovernmental collaboration—skills he now applies to improve the quality of life for the residents of his precinct.
Born and raised in Victoria County, Commissioner Garcia has always maintained a strong connection to his community. After retiring from TxDOT, he saw an opportunity to continue serving by running for County Commissioner, aiming to bring tangible improvements to Precinct 1 through sound planning and strong partnerships. Since taking office, he has helped secure nearly $100 million in grant funding—without relying on local tax dollars—for critical infrastructure, economic development, public safety, and disaster recovery initiatives.
Under his leadership, Precinct 1 has seen significant progress: from sidewalk and lighting projects on Highway 185 to the development of the Hope Meadows subdivision and improvements to the Port of Victoria. He worked closely with TxDOT to fund a vital overpass project in Bloomington and partnered with local law enforcement to establish a regional training center and a new sheriff’s substation.
Beyond his official duties, Commissioner Garcia remains deeply engaged in community service. He co-chairs the Metropolitan Planning Organization and has previously served as a school board member, PTO officer, and board member of the V.I.S.D. Education Foundation. A strong advocate for veterans, he helped establish a state-recognized veterans center in Victoria County, where his wife, Frances, volunteers.
Married for 43 years, Commissioner Garcia and his wife, Frances, have two children and five grandchildren. They are active members of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Bloomington, where Danny serves as treasurer for the Knights of Columbus and as a Eucharistic minister.
