Animal Control

Pets play a vital role in our society. They give us companionship, affection, a sense of responsibility, and protection. Additionally, pets help improve our health by lowering blood pressure, reducing stress, and promoting exercise. As responsible pet owners, we can assure that dogs, cats, and other pets remain enjoyable members of our lives and the lives of those around us.

About Us

Victoria County Animal Services is the municipal animal impound for Victoria County and the City of Victoria.  We use engagement-based animal protection as a way to limit the intake of otherwise healthy animals.  We work hard at keeping pets in the homes they already have which in turn, will lead to less animals in the impound that then need to be rehomed, fostered or euthanized.

Our Animal Control Officers are certified by the State of Texas and receive regular in-service training to keep them up to date on current animal control issues and ordnances.

We are the rabies control authority for Victoria County. We investigate animal bites and other potential rabies exposures from both domestic and wild animals. As such we are also a state inspected Rabies Quarantine facility.

VCAS investigates various types of animal issues like abandonment, cruelty, dangerous dog, serious bodily injury and hoarding cases as well as daily calls for loose roaming dogs and other domestic animals.  VCAS works with both local and national animal advocacy groups in an effort to euthanize as few animals and possible while helping to create a safe community free of loose roaming aggressive animals.
